March 2020 Favorites - Beauty And Bath

March continues with me finding makeup that suits me while my dark tan continues to fade.  Lots of similar tones in eyes and lips.

Hope everyone is well and is taking care during this time.

1.  Makeup Revolution The Emily Edit - The Needs Palettes:

I can wear the Emily Edit Needs palatte again.  Wasn't quite possible with the very dark tan, that I returned with, in the middle of February. I love this palette -- especially when I'm in a hurry.  Almost every thing I need is in there -- hence the name of the palette.  The one thing I wish it had a was a shimmery medium shade shadow.

2.  NYX Professional Makeup Lid Lingerie Shadow Palette:

I need to use this palette more.  As you can see, there are a lot of similarities between this palette and the Needs eyeshadows.  Again, I wish there was a shimmery medium shade for the lid in this palette.

3.  Kat Von D Shade + Light Quad in Rust:

I bought this palette for the same reason I bought the Emily Edit Needs palette.  When you have ADHD, having something that has just about everything you need in it, can help save time.  These colors are wonderful, they apply like a dream.  Again, I wish they could have put a shimmery shade in there.

4.  Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation -- Medium 59 Neutral - tan acorn with neutral undertone:

This was originally the shade I thought would work with my dark tan.  My tan had to fade a little to be able to wear this.  By the end of March I was able to mix my usual shade 52 with this.

5.  Kat Von D Eyeshadow -- Lolita:

I've featured this before.  This has got to be one of the prettiest dusty dried red rose shades.  When I use this with Wet 'n' Wild's Bed of Roses palette, it looks WONDERFUL!!!

6.  Wet 'n' Wild Rebel Rose ColorIcon Eyeshadow Quad -- Bed of Roses:

Bed of Roses has the shimmery shades and darker shades that I like, but lacks a medium matte shade.  KVD's Lolita fits the bill perfectly for that!

7.  Kat Von D 24-Hour Super Brow Long-Wear Pomade in Dark Brown:

I've featured this brow pomade several times.  I've decided that when I am done with my pencils, I want to stick with pomade.  Skinny pencils run out too fast and create a lot of waste that goes in landfills.  With a little practice, the perfect brow brush and some liquid eyeshadow mixing medium, one container of pomade can go a long way.  I've had this pomade for over a year.  It has started to dry out, but with mixing medium I can make it the texture that I like.  One I have, that I really like, and that I've had for ages, is Inglot's Duraline.  You can also place a bunch of drops of Duraline in your pomade before you close the lid.  The next time you open your pomade the Duraline should have been absorbed into the pomade.    

8.  Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed -- Opal:

I had this in February's favorites, as well.  This actually looked better during the month of March.  Not as big of a contrast.  Still glowy, but a little more subtle.

9.  Girlactik Luminous Pressed Powder -- Fair:

By the middle of March, the e.l.f. Bronzer, I was using, as face powder, was a little too much, I started mixing the L.A. Colors mineral powder that I got in Alabama with my Girlactik powder.

10. Kat Von D #70 Pomade Brow Brush:

I've had this brush on my favorites list several times.  This brush is AMAZING!  If you have sparser brows like I do and need a brush to give a defined shape with a clean edge, this is the brush!

11. Colourpop Just A Tint -- Gimme S'more: 

I just love the way these smell -- like passionfruit!!!  I got this in a bundle that emilynoel83 curated for Colourpop.  It's a warm nude color with some gloss to it.

12. Kat Von D Studded Kiss Crème Lipstick -- Cathedral:

I've loved this color for years!  It's the older formula which seems to dry to longer lasting matte finish. It's described as a satin matte coco-rose.  A beautiful color!

13. Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick -- Pillow Talk:

I got this during the holiday season.  They were selling the lipstick with a free lip liner.  It's a comfortable formula and goes on with a satin-matte finish.  Pillow talk is a very flattering pinky-beige nude.

14. Black Moon Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick -- Wrath and Harvest:

I've said before that Black Moon Cosmetics makes my favorite formula of liquid lipstick. I also love the flat applicator, which I think makes it easy to define lips.  Wrath, which is a dusty rose color and Harvest with is a muted orange both fit the complexion bill in March.

15. Wet 'n' Wild PhotoFocus Pressed Powder -- Warm Light:

I love, love, love this pressed powder!  It has a satiny finish.  I've mixed this with my darker mineral powder and before my tan, mixed this with Girlactik's powder.  I will use it on its own if my skin is on the oilier side during the month.

16. Milani Baked Powder Blush -- Bellissimo Bronze:

This warmer blush suited my medium tan complexion very nicely in march.  I love Milani's Baked Powder Blushes because there is some shimmer to them.  Really makes the skin look alive.

17. ILNP Nail Lacquer -- The Magician:

ILNP makes some of the most unique nail polish ever!  Per their website: "The Magician effortlessly shifts between intense hues of red, orange, and green once applied over just about any base color."  The effect over dark nail polish is just beautiful!

18. Alba Botanicals Mega Moisture Conditioner -- Coconut Milk:

I got this from Costco.  I was needing a moisturizing conditioner that wasn't a hair mask.  This feels really nice.  The only caveat with this conditioner --  it has a LOT of slip to it.  It can make your shower or bathtub floor a bit slippery.

19. L.A. Colors Mineral Pressed Powder -- Cream Beige:

I bought this when I was in Alabama, and my e.l.f. Sunkissed Bronzer, which had hit major pan, broke while it was in my suitcase.  Argh! I couldn't find it in Target so I bought the L.A. Colors Mineral powder.  I use this with Girlactik's Luminous powder.  It goes good together!

20. China Glaze Nail Polish Liquid Leather 544:

If you like layering certain polishes over a basic black polish, this is THE one!  A YouTuber I watched several years ago tested several black polishes.  This was the only one that was opaque in one coat.

21. Josie Maran Holistic Fragrance -- Courage Vanilla Apricot:

I really love this fragrance.  I wish it was a staple in Josie Maran's line -- but alas! I hadn't worn this in a while.  I decided to use it during March and was in love all over again!

December 2019 Favorites - Beauty And Bath

Some new favorites, some old favorites and some repurchased favorites.

Enjoy my end of the year picks!

1.   Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick in Designer Blood:
Jeffree Star Cosmetics describes Designer Blood as a "dark rusty red".  This color is very flattering on me and looks so dramatic, (in a good way), with my red shadow look.

2.   e.l.f  Modern Metals Liquid Matte Lipstick:.
This lipstick is from the Modern Metals collection.  I saw it on YouTuber Zabrena's channel.  It confused me, at first. The name Modern Metals suggests that the lipstick should be metallic -- but, it did not look at all metallic on Zabrena.  It's a gorgeous non-metallic matte burnt orange color.  The formula is pretty good too!

3.   Black Moon Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick in Sanguis:
I've always had at least one tube of this on hand since not long after Black Moon Cosmetics launched (when all they had were a few lipsticks). It's a beautiful bright cherry red.  I also love the flat-ish applicator., I feel like it helps with more precise application.

4.   Black Moon Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick in Deville:
When this color launched almost a year ago, I HAD to have it.  I just love metallic red lipsticks!!!

5.   Lip Liners -- Mostly Nyx:. 
While liquid lipsticks offer the convenience of not really needing a lip liner, I'm finding that I prefer to use a lip liner to get really precise definition on my upper lip.  I originally bought a bunch of lip liners to go with my KVD Studded Kiss Lipsticks but find myself loving to use lip liners for most lip colors, now.

6.   Lime Crime Venus Palette in Vivid:

This was somewhat of a collection purchase.  However, I do love the colors!  It reminds me a little of the Urban Decay Electric palette (above left)  that was around years ago, except in a more edited version.  The Electric Palette had 10 colors and the Vivid palette has eight colors.  What you don't get in the Vivid palette that was in the Electric palette is a silver, shimmery teal (I'm not someone who loves teal shadow), royal blue and shimmery medium green.  The purple in the Vivid palette (Flutter) seems like both purples in the Electric palette mixed together.  The shimmery green in the Electric Palette is a slightly lighter matte green/chartreuse in the Vivid Palette (Limelight).  The shimmery yellow green in the Electric palette is a yellow with a slight hint of green called Happy Place.  Two colors you get in the Vivid palette that are not in the Electric palette are Lux, which is a yellow-gold.  Personally, I prefer this to silver, which can look harsh on most skin. Then, there is Super Bloom, a shimmery bright orange.  This palette is gorgeous.  To make it more wearable for myself, I mix Starburst (the bright red-orange) with a warm brown eyeshadow -- which is what I do with the Electric palette as well,

7.   Juvia's Place Eyeshadow Palette in The Saharan II:
I've had this palette since late 2017.  It's taken me a while to realize that I really LOVE this palette.  I, of course, love red shadows.  But, I've just started getting enamored with mixing my reds, oranges and warm browns with blues -- especially shimmery blues.  The neutral shimmery light beige in the middle of the top row can also double as a highlighter for fair to medium skin.

8.   Kat Von D Eyeshadow Palette in Shade and Light:
I, personally, think that the matte Shade and Light palette is one of the greatest neutral palettes created.  Not only does it have three sections (cool, neutral and warm); but, the large pans on top can also be used as a matte highlighter, contour and blush (provided your skin is fair to light-medium).  Also you don't have to stick to one section when applying it.  This palette is great for creating a bold rocker-chick smokey eye with that black shadow as a base.

9.   Chanel Les Exclusifs 31 Rue Cambon:
I've had my bottle of 31 Rue Cambon for, at least, five years now.  I'd say, out of all the Les Exclusive fragrances I have, 31 is my favorite.   31 Rue Cambon is comprised, in part, of bergamot, black pepper, patchouli, cistus labdanum and iris. At first whiff, there is a deceptive old fashionedness to 31.  What comes next is the sophistication of this chypre fragrance which also juxtaposes itself with with imagery of a fragrant  mystical moss filled forest.  I wear this in cooler weather and it gets stowed away during the warmer months.

10.  Atelier Cologne Oolong Infiny:
I got this during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales.  If I bought a larger bottle of any fragrance, I could get any 1 oz bottle, which retails for $78 with a personalized engraved leather case.  I got Oolong Infiny as my free bottle.  I kind of wish I got this as a larger bottle.  It's a beautiful, light multi-dimentional fragrance.  Atelier cologne classifies Oolong Infiny as a "Clean Musk". Its main notes are an Oolong Tea Accord, bergamot and Gaiac wood.  Like most Atelier Cologne fragrances, Oolong Infiny is considered a unisex fragrance.  When I put this on, I get a hint of floral and a very subtle hint of bitterness which gives it its "clean" impression.  This can be worn day or night and even in warmer weather.

11.  Becca Pressed Shimmering Skin Perfector in Golden Mint:
I absolutely LOVE Becca's pressed highlighters!  They're not crazy shimmery and they're not too subtle. There is never any glitter in the highlighters. (Why do companies put glitter in highlighters?) I feel like Becca is the benchmark for highlighters.  Golden Mint was a limited edition color.  It has an ever so subtle green tint to it that comes off more golden.  I find this to be very flattering with red shadow.

12.  Becca Pressed Shimmering Skin Perfector in Vanilla Quartz:
I got Vanilla Quartz at the same time that I got Golden Mint. It was also a limited edition release. I really LOVE this color.  It gives a bit more of a pop on me than Moonstone (which I also love).

13.  Becca Pressed Shimmering Skin Perfector in Prismatic Amethyst:
I've had Prismatic Amethyst for a few years.  It was originally a limited edition release; but, has since become a permanent item.  Prismatic Amethyst is perfect for pairing with cooler toned makeup or neutral makeup.  It's great for fair to medium skintones.

14.  Colourpop BFF Liquid Liner in Red:
I've wanted to get a Red Liquid Liner for a long time.  When Colourpop had a sale on their site, I decided to try one of them.  I like it!!!

15.  NYX Faux Blacks Eyeliner in Oxblood:

This is actually a repurchase.   I had this a couple of years ago and loved it.  I've not been into black eyeliner, lately, and Oxblood hits the spot for me.  Nyx's line of Faux Blacks are beautiful!  I may even consider some of their green colors.

16.  Physicians Formula Rosé Take The Day Away Cleanser:
This is an oil-free gel cleanser (non foaming).  It contains brightening ingredients like Vitamin C. I use this with my electric face brush when I want something more gentle on my skin.  Plus, I'm digging the smell of roses lately!

17.  The Body Shop Banana Truly Nourishing Shampoo:
Not only do I love the smell of The Body Shop's banana hair line.  I love how gentle and softening it is for my really long fine dry hair.  This shampoo is great during the week when I feel like I need a more gentle shampoo or if I work out a lot during the week. (I have to wash my hair after I work out because I perspire so much.)

18.  The Body Shop Banana Truly Nourishing Hair Mask:
OMG!!!  This stuff is heavenly!!!  I use this in the shower.  I'll shampoo my hair, put this stuff in and put a plastic shower cap over my head for the rest of my shower.  But, if you want an amazing conditioning experience. After you put a shower cap over you head -- take a bubble bath and lounge.  When you rinse your hair, it will feel amazing!!!

19.  One 'n' Only Argan Oil Revitalizing Hydrating Mask with Acacia Collagen:
I bought this about a month or so ago. I use this at least once a week, it's a heavier conditioner than my ApHogee Keratin conditioner and helps keep my hair more manageable. (Got this from Sally Beauty.)

20.  Herstyler Hair Repair Serum:
I got this over a year ago from Amazon based on reviews.  It took a lot of trial and error to figure out the best way for me to use it.  I now have waist long hair that is dry and frizzy, without product in it.  This works best for me when I put it in freshly washed and conditioned hair that's been lightly towel dried.  I've also discovered that it's best to use a little more than I think I need. When my hair dries naturally, it's soft, smooth and easy to run a brush through.  It's even easy to run a brush through, the next day. (I tend to wake up with tangled "cave woman" hair.). Love it!!!

21.  Remington DT7432 Wet or Dry Tame The Mane Electric Detangling Brush:
I think I heard about this about 6 months ago, when trying to search for some help for my hair which gets tangled SUPER easily.  It got really good reviews; and, I saw YouTuber grav3yardgirl review this.  I have to tell you, this really helps!  I will most often use this when I deal with "2nd day" hair or before I wash my hair.

October 2019 Favorites - Beauty And Bath

1.   Nyx Suede Matte Lipliner in Jakarta:  I've had this since around Christmas time.  I bought a set of mini Nyx liquid lipsticks that came with matching lipliners.  I have a vertical labret piercing and it makes it very difficult to wear a traditional style lipstick w/o lipliner.  But, I love the precise look a lipliner gives to traditional lipstick. Jakarta is a very pretty burnt orange shade.

2.   Nyx Lip Lingerie Push-Up Long-Lasting Lipstick in Exotic:  These come in some of the same colors that the original Lip Lingerie liquid lipstick shades come in.  I think the Push-Up version feels a little more comfortable on the lips and also looks better on.  Exotic is a lovely burnt orange shade.

3.   Covergirl Colorlicious Oh Sugar! Tinted Lip Balm in Punch:  Tinted lipbalms are nice on days when one would prefer a more natural makeup look; or, if one's lips need a little relief from drying lipsticks.

4.   e.l.f. Lip Exfoliator:  I've been using e.l.f.'s Lip Exfoliators on and off  for some years, now.  YouTuber emilynoel83 made me buy it (LOL).  These work great.  I don't have to stick my fingers into a goopy jar.  They are nicely priced and come in several flavors.

5.   Milani Amore Metallics Lip Creme in Raving Matte: I love a magenta-purple lipstick!  This shade is flattering on me when I want something a little more dramatic on the lips.

6.   Milani Luminoso Glow Shimmering Face Palette:  YouTuber emilynoel83 made me buy this too. (LOL). I'm really loving glowy blushes lately.  This palette also has highlighters and glowy bronzers (which can be used to darken the blushes). After a certain age, looking too matte is not flattering.  This palette can be used on the eyes, as well.  Although I would caution that hooded eyes need some matte to give them dimension.

7.   Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso:  This blush came in a bundle with the Luminoso Face Palette and a Luminoso Lip Gloss.  Holy cow!  There is a reason this blush is so popular!  I was worried that it wouldn't show up on me; but, it does!  Luminoso gives the cheeks a beautiful glow!  I would say it gives more of a glow than their other baked blushes.

8.   e.l.f. Jelly Pop Flush Blush in Berry Pop:  This is another beautiful glowy/dewy blush option that won't break the bank. My recommendation with this blush is to put a dot of the blush on the back of your hand, then use a stippling brush to blend it into the cheeks.  I've found that a couple of  small dots is enough for both cheeks.  You can always add more. Hard to take away if you put too much on.

9.   Manny MUA X Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Palette:  I've had this palette since around when it first came out.  YouTuber mirrorsandhaze made me buy this one.  What stands out, in my mind, in this palette, is the shade Mars (which is described as a deep cherry red with a matte finish) and the shade Insomnia (which is described as a warm red brown with blue reflects and a foiled finish).  Those two colors make for quite a dramatic look, which I love.  I forget, however, that the palette has a host of soft colors that are perfect for a natural look or a more "office friendly" look.  A very versatile palette.

10.  Kat Von D Pastel Goth Eyeshadow Palette:  I am in love with the shade Clementine -- which is a soft pastel orange that is slightly sheer.  I wish Kat Von D made a single shadow in Clementine.  It is perfect for blending out warm looks.  I have used the other colors in the palette -- mostly for complementing shadows in other palettes.   For me, it works really well for that.

11.  e.l.f. Superclarify Cleanser:  This cleanser works well.  My only wish is that it was in a container that suited the consistency of the cleanser better -- like a pump bottle.

12.  Nquea.d Mediterranean Fig and Rhubarb Candle:  I've had this candle for a while.  I'm reminded of how much I like it, when I'm in the kitchen.  It smells heavenly!  I don't know if this brand exists anymore.  The candle was on sale when I bought it in April at Papyrus.  If it doesn't exist anymore, that's too bad.  It's a really good candle.

13.  Mane 'n Tail Conditioner (Original):  I stopped using this for a little while because I kept forgetting to get a new bottle from our pantry.  When I finally remembered -- several months later -- I used it and was smitten all over again.  It helps with the manageability of my long, easily tangled hair.

14.  DermOrganic Leave-in Argan Oil Treatment:  Although this can be used in dry hair to help detangle and give hair some shine, I find that this leave-in treatment works best when worked into damp hair.  (It will help stop the frizzies before they start; and, help with detangling hair.)

15.  Diptyque Eau Rose Eau de Toilette:  This is like fresh roses layered with more complex notes in the background.  (Per Diptyque: Pick up the petals of a rose, add its green leaves, its stem, and don’t forget its buds. Immerse in clear water and wait to reveal its rosy delicateness, fruity accents and acidulated green notes... Eau Rose is composed like an infusion of the finest damascena and centifolia roses.)  One can definitely smell the "acidulated green notes" in the background.  Now that it's fall, I feel more comfortable wearing a fragrance like this.

16.  Atelier Cologne Vetiver Fatal Cologne Absolue Pure Perfume:  I love Atelier Cologne's fragrances.  Most are perfect for traveling in warmer weather where fragrances with heavier notes may be too cloying.  (Per Atelier Cologne it's notes are: Bergamot from Calabria, Lemon from Sicily, Heart of Bigaradier from Paraguay, Orange Flower Absolue from Tunisia, Violet Leaves, Black Plum, Heart of Vetiver from Haiti, Cedarwood from Texas, Dark Oud Accord.)  The combination is unisex, with a bitter but refreshing note.  If I were to put an image to it -- I'm reminded of a personal library with luxurious wood shelves that go all the way up to the elevated ceiling.  The kind of library where you need one of those rolling ladders.

Favorite Primers, Foundations, Concealers and Powder

I missed this!  I do this for me and for anyone who cares to read.  I love makeup, music, gothy oddities and curiosities and books, to name a few things.  I decided to start with some makeup basics that I really like.  Enjoy!

July 2017 Favorites -- Beauty And Bath

Most of these are not really from the month of July; but, I did not include them in June's favorites.

1.  Urban Decay JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT Gold Griot Palette:  I went back and fourth with whether or not I was going to buy anything from the collection.  It seemed to be getting mixed reviews on YouTube.  I ultimately decided I wanted to get the eyeshadow palletes, at least because I was enamoured with the packaging, and YouTubers like Phyrra Nyx and grav3yardgirl liked their palettes.  Some YouTubers complained about the pigmentation and blendability.  When I got mine, I didn't have any problems with either.  The Gold Griot Palette is a really nice basic neutral palette that leans a little more on the warm side and has a few shimmers.

2.  Urban Decay JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT Gallery Blush Palette:  I almost wasn't going to get this palette -- like I needed more blush (well, like I need more eyeshadow!  LOL).  I popped into Ulta one day and saw that the blush palette was on sale.  Perfect!!!  So I got it, and a backup for the bright green eyeliner.  It is a good palette!  I have a lot of warmer blushes so it's nice to have a cooler option.  Plus Urban Decay's highlighters have improved immensely.  The complaint used to be that they were dry and glittery.  They are now much smoother and glitter free.

3.  NYX PERFECT FILTER SHADOW PALETTE in Rustic Antique:  This was the first of the three Nyx palettes on this Favorites post that I bought.  Yes, how many uber warm palettes do I need?  I think, the idea behind this was to have something with a limited amount of shadow choices, but that can complete an eye look, when I'm low on time.  When you have ADHD, a big palette can end up being a time waster as it's very easy to get sidetracked by all the choice you have.  The shadows are all nicely pigmented, they blend well and you can achieve several complete looks with this palette.

4.  Urban Decay JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Post Punk:  I had been searching for a chartreuse eyeliner -- and a few weeks later, Urban Decay came out with one for their Basquiat collection!!!  

5.  Urban Decay JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT Tenant Palette: Not only do I love chartreuse eyeliner, I love chartreuse eyeshadow!  The tenant palette has some really fun colors to work with when I'm not in the mood for my usual warm look.  (See #1 for more.)

6.  NYX DUO CHROMATIC ILLUMINATING POWDER in Crushed Bloom:  I bought this to use as a blush.  It gives a gorgeous glow and a light wash of color.

7.  NYX CONTOUR INTUITIVE PALETTE in Warm Zone: Ironically, for a palette called Contour Intuitive, there is no contour powder in this palette.  LOL  But I didn't buy it for that.  I really bought this for traveling.  It's perfect to go with my Naked Skin Shapeshifter palette. (See June 2017 Favorites: Beauty and Bath.)  I've since tweaked my Shapeshifter palette to meet my needs more when travelling and the Contour Intuitive palette just makes a perfect companion with it's blush, highlighter and just enough of all of my eyeshadow shade staples.  Everything blends well and the shadows are nicely pigmented.

8.  NYX LIQUID SUEDE METALLIC MATTE (Liquid Lipstick) in ACME:   Even though the definition of Acme is: the point at which someone or something is best, perfect, or most successful, I cannot see the word acme and not think of  Looney Toons cartoons.  This color reminds me of a color Lancome had over 20 years ago in their lipstick line.  It was a shimmery full coverage lipstick called Fraise (strawberry in French).  Nyx describes Acme as a metallic strawberry red.  I love it!

9.  Nubian Heritage PATCHOULI and BURITI HAND and BODY SCRUB:  This smells SO good!  I love the body wash; but, I can detect some almond scented oil in here, maybe some musk as well as a hint of patchouli. The sugar gives it some fragrance, as well.  I've used it all up; but, was thinking of experimenting with making candles and wanted to see if I could dupe this fragrance.

10. NYX LIP LINGERIE (Matte Liquid Lipstick) in Cabaret Show:  This is one of four Lip Lingerie Lipsticks that I got in March 2017.  The other colors I got were French Maid, Cashmere Silk and Seduction.  I'd say Cabaret show is the one I like most, followed by French Maid.

11. NYX LID LINGERIE SHADOW PALETTE:  This, to me, is Nyx's answer to Urban Decay's Naked Basic's palette.  There are six shadows.  Some lean towards the warm side.  I think this a great palette when you want some neutral shades to complement a colorful palette, or if you have a palette that seems to be lacking a light neutral shade and a dark neutral crease shade.  

12. Brow Rehab Brow Cream Ash Brown and Brow Brush:  I've been using this since before the new year started.  I use it almost every time I do my makeup.  It's a small container; but, I've still got plenty of product left and it has never dried out on me.  Every other brow gel or paste I've ever gotten has dried out on me way before its time.  I love the brush from Brow Rehab, as well.  It's a wider brow brush than most and it really makes for having an easier time drawing and filling my brows in (my brows on on the sparser side -- I can't just lightly fill them in).  One of these days, maybe next year, I will invest in some microblading for the brows.

13. Shea Moisture Coconut and Hibiscus Foaming Milk and Body Wash:  I forgot I had this in my bathroom cupboards until I started doing a declutter.  I started using it when I ran out of whatever I had been using in the shower at the time.  I wondered why I forgot all about it.  I quite liked it!  It's softly scented and feels luxurious.  I even took it on vacation with me to San Luis Obispo!  When my body wash stash starts getting low, I will definitely be replenishing it with some of this.

14. Kat Von D Shade + Light Glimmer Eye Contour Palette:  Honestly, I really got this because I love acquiring Kat Von D palettes!  It's a very good palette.  I will say, I wish the lighter shimmery shades weren't quite so sheer.  Other than that, it's a great basic nude shimmery palette.  I use it with the matte one.

15. Kat Von D Shade + Light Face Contour Refillable Palette:  I love this palette.  I finally got mine when she came out with a refillable one.  I mostly use Sombre (the cooler shade on the left) and Shadowplay (which is a slightly warm contour shade that still works very well).  I mostly use the highlight shades as a lighter eyeshadow or to blend out eyeshadow.  I will use the darker shade as eyeshadow as well.  I don't see myself needing to replace the darker shade or the highlight shades any time soon.

16. My Mix Powder And Blush:  

Powder

This started when I had two Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders (One in Diffused light -- pale yellow.  One in Luminous light.).  I sort of liked them both on their own; but, not enough to use them all the time.  They had been in my makeup collection for almost three years.  About a year ago, I decided I was going to scrape the powders out of the compacts, mix them together and put them back into one compact.  I loved the result.  I could powder my face and not look powdery or cakey!  After that, I started mixing my own face powders adding lower shimmer highlighter to matte powders.  It has definitely cut down on makeup clutter; and, I just love the result.  (The nude and very light pink tins.)  Milani has since come out with something similar.  I have it; but, am still deciding if I like it better than the powder I mix. 

Blush

I had a lot of blush.  I still have a lot of blush; but, not as much as I used to.  I was trying to cut down on some clutter so I gathered up all of the blush that I knew I wasn't really using, scraped them all out of their containers, mixed them together and put them in two tins.  One of the tins is warmer and one is cooler.  It comes in handy as something to reach for.

June 2017 Favorites Beauty And Bath

1.  Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette: This was the first Naked Palette that I was really excited about.  (I was actually excited about the Naked 3; but, I ended up not liking it very much – I think it’s more exciting looking on much fairer skin).  Yes, on one hand, it’s another really warm palette in a pile of really warm palettes.  On the other hand, Urban Decay has never come out with anything like it.  They’re a bit late to the party; but, the thing I like about this palette is how travel friendly it is.  Those of us that like orangey/red palettes sometimes want a certain type of red or orange one day and a different type of red or orange the next day.  This is perfect for that.

2.  Urban Decay Naked Skin Shapeshifter:  I was so excited when I heard this was coming out!  I’m always on the lookout for makeup products that can: A) Travel well  and/or  B) Come in handy when I need to put my makeup on in a hurry.  I haven’t taken it on a trip; but, I have definitely used it when I need to be out of the house in a jiffy.  For me the only thing that it is missing is a blush.  BUT if it’s paired with the product below, you’ve got your cheeks and eyes in one more small container.

4.  Kat Von D High Voltage Eye Primer (discontinued):  I tried this when the Kat Von D Beauty site had this for about $7.50.  I don’t have particularly oily eyelids, so I just thought, eye primer is eye primer.  I was oh so WRONG!  To me, this was like a less solid version of MAC’s paint pots.  And the staying power was incredible!!!  I bought a few more and even gave a couple of them as gifts to friends.  Sadly, it is no longer on the Kat Von D Beauty site. 

5.  BH Cosmetics Spotlight Highlight Palette:  I had seen this on BH’s website; but, it wasn’t until Messie Jess made a video about this palette and the Blacklight palette on YouTube, that I realized I had to get them.  They go on like a dream.  My favorite color in the palette is Vivid.  It makes my makeup look amazing!  This can also be used on eyes.

6.  BH Cosmetics Blacklight Highlight Palette:  I have Anastasia’s Moonchild and Aurora palettes and Kat Von D’s Alchemy palette; but, I still needed to give this a try.  It does not disappoint!  If you love trying different makeup looks, don’t be afraid to give Laser (greenish) or Kween a go on the cheeks.  You’d be surprised at how amazing a subtle green can look when paired with today’s popular orange and red eyeshadow looks.  The same with blue.

7.  Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick Exorcism: I first fell in love with this color when I saw Mirrors and Haze doing a tutorial with Exorcism.  She used this as eyeliner as well as lipstick.  It was gorgeous!  I haven't used this as liner yet; but, I just love it as a dark vampy lipstick.

8.  Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick Lolita:  I was, originally, all about Lolita II, which I received as a deluxe sample.  Lolita II is a beautiful terracotta.  I would wear Lolita, once in a while; but, when the Lolita Eyeshadow/Blush was being showcased on Instagram, I decided to give Lolita another go.  It really goes beautifully with red and orange eyeshadows!

9.  Urban Decay Eyeshadow Relish:  I bought this because I disappointedly thought I missed out on Lolita Eyeshadow/Blush forever.  Wah!  Relish is brighter and redder than Lolita.  Can be used on it's own like Lolita -- or in conjunction with Lolita -- or in conjunction with the Naked Heat Palette.  :)

10. Lorac Pirates of The Caribbean Cheek Palette:  Truth be told, I really got this for the packaging.  Not because I'm the biggest Pirates fan or anything like that.  I got it because I loved the ancient spell book motif. (Or at least, that's what it looks like to me.)  The product inside did not disappoint, as well.  I was quite wowed by the blushes and highlights.  The highlights are SO intense and buttery!  I took this traveling with me.  It is very compact and fit well with plenty of room to spare in a (9 x 6 x 5.5) makeup bag.

11. Cryptic Cosmetics Rust In Peace Liquid Lipstick:  This has become one of my favorite lipstick colors.  It really goes well with my complexion and I love the formula of Cryptic Cosmetics' lipsticks.  (I just wish they were more readily available.  They are perpetually sold out of colors I still want to get.) Rust in peace is part of the Til Death Do Us Part collection, (inspired by roses and Joy Division), which I got in a bundle. I would describe Rust In Peace as a really rusty brownish red -- aptly named.  I swatched it against other colors in my lipstick collection.  I do not have any dupes of this.  I'm going to have to scoop up a couple more tubes when it's available again.

12. Urban Decay Meltdown Makeup Remover: I heard Mirrors and  Haze give this rave reviews. (She has sensitive breakout-prone skin, so I tend to trust her recommendations, as they usually work for me as well.)  I decided to finally give this a try.  I was worried it would be greasy and difficult to wash off (as a lot of oil cleansers are),  To my great surprise, it was nothing of the kind.  It was almost like rinsing a glycerin soap off.  It removes makeup beautifully, smells good and rinses off super easily.  I usually use my face washing brush with Ole Henriksen's The Clean Truth foaming cleaner and a special glutiathone brightening soap I get off of Amazon afterwards; but, I have used Meltdown by itself when I was too tired to take another shower late at night, once & I had no problems with it.

13. Nyx Fan Brush:  Love, love, love this brush!  This is my favorite contouring brush.  It places and blends contour beautifully; and, I love working with the longer handle.  The brush is thicker than most larger fan brushes and the hairs are denser.  I would say, it's akin to the e.l.f. Beautifully Bare Blending brush -- which I also love for contouring.

14. ApHogee Two-Step Protein Treatment:  As we get older, our hair texture changes.  Gone, for me, are the days when I could simply shampoo and condition, air dry, brush and be done with it.  I had tried the 2 Minute Reconstructor before; but, my hair needed something more intense.  (It is down to my waist and I was starting to have a very difficult time fighting frizz, dryness and tangles on the ends.  Sally Beauty was having a sale and I decided to give it a go along with their moisturizing conditioner (you need one after doing this treatment), and another bottle of the 2 Minute Reconstructor.  I read the directions.  After washing hair, you put the Protein Treatment in, and then dry your hair with heat.  I was very surprised that the treatment was a clear liquid (golden orange clear).  I followed instructions, dried my hair and rinsed my hair WELL.  Then I applied the moisturizing conditioner (which, truth be told, I don't know why I got, because I've got plenty of moisturizing conditioner in my arsenal.  I also regret buying the moisturizing conditioner; because, although it works well, it smells heavily of cheap drugstore cologne from the 70's. It is so heavily perfumed, that I found myself getting a bit of a headache the first time I used it.  I think I used it once or twice more and decided I couldn't take the smell any longer.  Come on, ApHogee!  Put a different fragrance in it, if you have to put a fragrance in it at all.).  The results were surprisingly good! I was very impressed.  I'm only supposed to use this once every 6 weeks, so I maintain with using the 2 Minute Reconstructor every other time I wash my hair.  I have been really impressed.  Between the ApHogee and changing my hair brushes to boar bristle, I can leave the house without styling my hair, or pulling it back, if I want to.

15. Atelier Cologne Figuier Ardent:  I first got this in their Necessaire Azur gift set.  The set contained four .14 oz spray vials of their collection Azur perfumes.  This is the one I used up rather quickly and knew I had to get a big bottle of.  I love Atelier Colognes's sophisticated unisex fragrances.  They are never cloying or overly dominating.  They are excellent for travelling to warmer climates.  Notes: Calabrian Bergamot, Anise, Cardamom, Fig Leaf, Salty Fig, Pepper, Virginian Cedarwood, Tuscan Iris, Tonka Bean.  

16. Kat Von D Saint Eau de Parfum: I love the Saint and Sinner bottles!!!  The glass bottles are decorated with scrolls and skulls -- White for Saint & Black for Sinner.   I also have Saint in the Old Skool silver bottle that looks like a giant lighter.    The new Saint seems more floral than the old Saint.  The old Saint seems to have more of a gourmand smell to me.  However, new Saint is not so floral that I feel "prissy" when I wear it.  Notes: Jasmine and tiaré flower with notes of mandarin, caramel, and sparkling Mirabelle plum. Vanilla, sandalwood, and creamy musk. 

17. Kat Von D Sinner Eau de Parfum:   I have to say it again!  I love the bottles!!! Sinner reminds me a little of the original Salvador Dali perfume; but, not as strong.  I can wear this in the day as well as evening.  Notes: Jasmine and orange blossom with notes of vanilla, mandarin, and Mirabelle plum. Spicy cinnamon envelops white florals at the heart of the fragrance, while base notes of vetiver, patchouli, and wood form the deeper, darker nuances.

18. Sunday Riley Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream:  This is similar to Belif's The True Cream Aqua Bomb, except it claims to brighten.  What I love about Sunday Riley's version is that it's more viscous than Belief's version.  For me it makes a wonderful primer after I've put my niacinamide and vitamin c serum on.

19. Ole Henriksen Truth Serum:  I got this in the Three Little Wonders set with the Invigorating Night Transformation Gel and the Sheer Transformation Perfecting Moisturizer.  The Vitamin C serum works wonderfully, for me, with The Ordinary's Niacinamide serum.  (I can break out easily from clogged pores; but, both of these items seem to keep the eruptions from happening.)

20. Ole Henriksen Invigorating Night Transformation Gel:  I use this at night or sometimes instead of the Vitamin C serum when I feel I need a little extra exfoliation.  I really works well!

22.  Nubian Heritage Indian Hemp and Hatian Vetiver Body Wash: When I came back from a vacation in the Cayman Islands, my skin was ITCHY!  I have a feeling it was the sulfer in the water, there.  My normal body washes weren't helping, even though they were moisturizing.  On a whim, I pulled the Indian Hemp and Hatian Vetiver out of the cupboard -- a brand new bottle.  It seemed to soothe my itchy skin!  It smells really nice, too.  The only "negative" thing I have to say about the Hemp and Vetiver wash is it looks like runny greenish yellow snot.  LOL  But, I can put up with its less than appealing looks when it works so nicely!

23. Atelier Cologne Pomélo Paradis: I first got this in the travel spray, which I still carry around with me; but, I've since purchased the 1 oz./30 ml spray.  I have a feeling I will have to get myself 6.7 oz/200 ml spray.  I love this stuff and want to always have it around.  It smells fresh and somewhat grapefruity and -- happy! Notes:Pink Pomelo, Calabrian Mandarin, Blackcurrant Bud, Moroccan Orange Blossom, Bulgarian Rose Essence, Mint, Haitian Vetiver, Tuscan Iris, Amber.

24. The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%:  This is a holy grail product for me.  It really helps keep my acne at bay.  Before that, I was using Paula's Choice 9% BHA serum which came in a tiny 1/3 oz/10 ml vial  for (at the time) $40 -- yes, $40!  The Ordinary's Niacinamide serum comes in a 1 oz/30 ml dropper bottle for $5.90; and, for me, works even better than the 9% BHA serum.  I keep backup bottles of this on hand.

25. The Ordinary Glycolic 7% Toning Solution:  I use this before I apply my moisturizer etc, before I do my makeup.  (I really should be using it before bed too.)  I need all the exfoliation I can get due to my pores' susceptibility to get clogged.  This comes packaged w/a metal twist top.  You can put the squeeze top on it for easier use.  (Comes in the box.)  I don't know if all of them are that way; but, I had the hardest time getting the darned screw top off of the bottle!

26. Mason Pearson The Popular Brush: The Mason Pearson Popular Mixture Nylon and Boar Bristle Brush. Benefits: perfect circulation of oils, stimulates hair follicles, help keep hair cleaner, longer. I love this brush! Between the Aphogee and the this brush, I am liking my tresses a lot better!  I don't even have to put as much serum in it as I used to. I decided a few weeks ago that I needed to stop using brushes that were exclusively plastic bristles.  Apparently, they are damaging to the hair; and, they don't distribute oils or help keep your hair clean.  I started with an inexpensive brush from Ulta that was a mix of long plastic bristles and shorter boar hair bristles.  I loved the way it made my hair look compared to my regular plastic brush.  I was debating about going for the Cadillac of Mason Pearson brushes -- the Large Extra Hair Brush.  However, that brush was $300.00!  And not having used a Mason Pearson Brush, if I spent $300.00 and didn't like it, I'd be really pissed!  LOL  But, I love this "Popular" brush.  I got mine from Costco for $149.00 -- still quite an investment for a hair brush.  If I'm still in love with it a year or so later, I may consider getting the Large Extra Hair Brush.  Mason Pearson brushes are made to last.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush Palette Color Wheel (Holiday 2016)

I had never tried Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Blush formula before.  I thought this was a pretty ingenious way to fit more into less packaging.  I use a separate mirror; so, it doesn’t bother me that there is no mirror.

This is kind of an odd question for a makeup addict.  "Prettiest Color" is contingent on what makeup it's been worn with, skin tone etc.  

So, I’m calling this the prettiest color based on how it looks in the pan – it’s ombre and has shimmer and is a pretty mauve color..

Coastal Scents Forever Blush

I had heard of these blushes; but, it wasn't until I heard emilynoel83 of YouTube talk about them that I got some.  She was right.  These blushes are PIGMENTED and they last!.  I would say, if you're on a budget and want a blush that you're not going to have to replace very quickly -- this is it!

4. Everyday blush

Cherry Custard by Laura Geller

I don’t have an everyday blush.  But, I thought of what I would reach for if I was in a hurry.  The answer would be Cherry Custard by Laura Geller, which is in the Baked Color and Contour Palette.  The fact that there’s a contour and highlight in the palette makes it very easy to use when I’m in a hurry.

5. Party blush
Makeup Revolution Blush Queen Palette

I'm not sure what a "Party blush" is supposed to be.  Again, it all depends on what I'm doing with the rest of my makeup.  I would probably put something with a touch or shimmer on.  In that spirit, I will say the Makeup Revolution Blush Queen palette which is a palette of eight shimmery blushes.  No matter what I decide to do with my makeup for a party there will be something in there for me.

6. Regret purchasing (Two Answers) 

e.l.f. Blush (A bunch of them)

      YouTubers would rave about these blushes -- how pigmented they are, how beautiful the colors look on the skin.  I bought mine during a sale a few years ago and was severely disappointed.  Mine were so NOT pigmented.  The quad blushes that sell for $6 work just fine; but, the single ones, never work for me.

Cream or Liquid blushes

I like cream and liquid blushes.  However, I have so much makeup that cream and liquid formulas just sit there and go bad.

7. Least used

This probably doesn't need any explanation.  It looked beautiful in the packaging. There is something about red -- eyeshadow, lipstick, nailpolish that captivates me. It is usable with an ultra light touch.  I think it's the inconvenience of having to be so careful with it that puts me off from using it.

8. Most used

Morphe Brushes 9N Palette

This is easy to grab for.  The blushes are easy to wear -- especially with the bolder eyes and lips of today.  And they are good quality!

These were out on the market for a hot minute.  I managed to get my hands on two of them before they disappeared from the market permanently.  I have Piaf/Poe and Bonnie/Clyde.  I wanted Morticia/Gomez; but, alas, it was not to be.

I don’t know that I have a favorite blush brand at the moment.  I suppose if Kat Von D or even Black Moon Cosmetics were to release some, I would probably be in love with those.

May 2016 Favorites -- Beauty & Bath

1. It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Anti-Aging Concealer + LA Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer, Orange Corrector + Garnier Skin Care Skin Renew 5 Second Blur Instant Smoother, 1 Fluid Ounce + BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector™ Spotlight Trio = The Best Concealer In The World!!!:   I already had all of the things mentioned and wanted to use them up; but, didn't know how.  Lots of people absolutely LOVE Bye Bye Under Eye concealer; but, I've always found it too thick for my liking.  The L.A. Girl Orange Correcter was a little too dark for me.  One day I decided to experiment and play mixologist.  The ratio was basically 1/2 or a little less concealer (I used up whatever was left in the tube of the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye, added little of the L.A. Girl orange concealer, and a little of the Becca liquid shimmering skin perfector), then I added 1/2 or a little more of the primer.  I don't think Garnier is the only primer that can be used for this.  After I am out of this I want to experiment with a cruelty free primer.  I may try using my NYX Angel Veil primer.
2. CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream:  I like to use this when I wear powder foundation.  I mix this with my vitamin C serum and my Paula's Choice 9% BHA serum.
3. belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb:  I got this as a deluxe sample a long time ago from Sephora.  I didn't try it until I saw all of the YouTube gurus raving about it.  I didn't hold out a lot of hope as my skin care needs can be a bit finicky.  But I LOVED it!!!  It's very moisturizing; but, not oily or greasy!  I have, since, got myself a full size jar of it. Sometimes, I use this and skip the foundation primer.
4. Essential Wholesale Leave-In Detangler Spray:  I decided to give this a try -- which was actually a dangerous notion, as the smallest size I could get was 1/2 a gallon and I have never tried a spray-in conditioner that I felt I loved.  I added a little vial of pear fragrance oil to it, that I bought from them.  I absolutely LOVE this!!!!  I had to use my own bottle which is actually an old VERB bottle.  So far, I've refilled it 2X and am still in love with it.  I use it every time I brush my hair.
5. Shade + Light Eye Contour Quad in Rust:  I bought this to use as an "In The Hurry" eyeshadow quad.  I have ADHD  & having a palette full of colors can cause delays.  LOL  They are my kind of colors, really pigmented, blend well and work really well with the e.l.f. cool bronzer palette!
6. e.l.f. Bronzer - Cool: As I said in my You Tube Made Me Buy It Contour/Bronzer entry, this can be used as contour, matte highlight, bronzer, blush and eyeshadow.  I like to have this on hand for when I am in a hurry and even in the handbag for touch-ups.  (This will definitely be a stocking stuffer item during the holiday season!!!)
7. Wet n Wild Color Icon Collection Bronzer SPF 15 in Reserve Your Cabana:  I had this a long time ago; and, gave it away as I didn't know what to do with it.  I bought it again because I heard it was a good substitute for Laura Geller Baked French Vanilla highlighter.  I discovered that, instead, I liked mixing this with powder foundation to help it not look dry on the skin!
8. Kat Von D - Lock-It Tattoo Foundation: This actually goes along with number 9.  I've been using this foundation mixed with Backlight Priming Filter which has some luminosity to it and really enjoying it!  It thins the foundation out a little bit; and, give it a bit of dimension with the luminosity.

10. It Cosmetics Superhero™ Mascara: Holy length and volume Batman!  I got this off of QVC in a two pack -- that way I ended up paying not much more than 
11. Colour Pop Ultra Matte Lippie in Bumble:  I ordered this almost a year ago.  It was my favorite color out of the 12 that I ordered at the time.  It is still a favorite of mine .  their description is perfect,  "dusty warm terracotta".
12. NYX Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick in Embellishment:  I bought this along with 4 or 5 other colors some months back.   The first couple of times I used it, I didn't think I liked it.  For some reason I was under the impression it left my lips looking cakey and dry.  Several months later, I decided to use it again and I loved it!  Maybe my lips were chapped at the time or something.  Embellishment has some lavender in it that goes very nicely with my skin tone.
13. Laura Geller Filter Finish Setting Powder: I decided to try this because it's difficult to get the Baked French Vanilla highlighter and the Baked French Vanilla highlighter is a bit small for what I use it for (all over the middle of my face).  I decided to give this a try.  It's has just a tad more shimmer and works just as well -- and is A LOT bigger!!!
14. Morphe Brushes 35OM - 35 COLOR MATTE NATURE GLOW EYESHADOW PALETTE:  I loved the 35O palette so I knew I would love the  35OM & S palettes.  I love collecting Morphe eyeshadow palettes.  They're really nicelty pigmented and really fun to use.

16. Dr. Woods - All Natural Eco-Friendly Castile Soap Pure Tea Tree:  I've been using this for a while.  I have a new found love for it ever since I went on vacation & decided I didn't need decant a little in a travel bottle to take with me.
17. Nubian Heritage COCONUT & PAPAYA BODY WASH with Vanilla Beans:  I love this stuff!  It smells great!  It's moisturizing and it helps brighten skin.
18.
